Jewish Terp Mentoring Program

Jewish Terp Mentoring Program

Are you starting to figuring out plans for life after Maryland?  Take advantage of Maryland Hillel’s amazing professional networks by connecting with young, Jewish alumni in your field or area of interest! Many recent alumni, now young professionals, have volunteered to mentor current juniors and seniors.  They are eager to share their experiences, contacts, and wisdom with you, and to help you navigate life in the “real world.” Click here to fill out the mentoring match form.

The program seeks to take advantage of the vast resources and broad reaching experiences and fields of study that exists in our alumni community. And it gets even better—this program is FREE for current students!

Goals of the Mentoring Program

  • An opportunity for students to learn from a trusted member of the community about their respective field of interest and helpful tips to prepare for the workplace
  • Expand the networks of both the students and the alumni mentors
  • Create meaningful and significant relationships between the mentors and mentees
  • Facilitate a meaningful way for alumni to reconnect with the Maryland Jewish community
  • Support students through the pursuit of their goals both personally and professionally
  • The goal is not for the mentor to offer a job to the student.

Commitment – Each mentor/mentee pair should connect at least once, in person, by phone, on Skype, etc.  The subsequent relationship beyond the initial conversation will of course vary and pairs will be committed to the terms that they agree upon together. That is to say, based on the connection you make, matches can meet one time only, 2-4 times, or meet on a regular basis for an agreed upon period of time.

How it works – Both mentors and mentees are asked to fill out a short application, available online. Participants will be matched based on common interests, professional field, and experiences. After you are notified of your match, you and your mentor can be in touch to arrange the first conversation/meeting.

Happy Networking!

*Note: We will do our best to match every person who signs up. We want to make sure every match is worthwhile, so in the event that we cannot find you a good match, you will be placed in a pool for future matches. Thank you for your understanding.*
