University of Maryland is home to dozens of on-campus Jewish student groups, funded both by Hillel and the University. Events are open to everyone!

Arts and Culture – Get involved with groups that feature dance, music, theater, and more.
Israel – Do you want to be involved with groups that focus on Israeli culture or groups that lobby on Capitol Hill? Check out our many Pro-Israel advocacy and education groups at UMD.
Religious Life – Information about religious communities, service times, eruv, and more. This also includes religiously affiliated student groups.
Social Opportunities – These groups provide a social atmosphere. Here you will find groups that have BBQs, Holiday parties, bar nights, semi-formals and more.
Jewish Learning – These groups focus on Torah Classes, JRP peer learning, Basic Judaism, pluralism dialogue and more.
Tzedek – Social Action/Social Justice- Groups that focus on service and advocacy opportunities. This includes groups that raise money for charity and participate in community service.

Am Ha-aretz- Co-op farming–staying Green at Maryland Hillel. Check our our garden and get involved!
CRL- Committee for Religious Life. Creates programs to ensure a pluralistic environment at Hillel on Shabbat and during religious holidays.
Challah for Hunger- Make Challah from scratch, sell it, and give the proceeds to a great cause!
Eruv- Committee of students who check the Eruv (defined area on campus), which allows people to be able to carry things on Shabbat.
HiPO- Hillel Programming Organization. They oversee social programming in the building, and offer both social and religious programming for holidays and other large-scale events.
Heart to Heart- a group that helps bring Shabbat to students who have never experienced it before.
JFem- Jewish Feminist Community at Maryland. The goal of JFem is to provide an open, safe, engaging, and enriching community for people to explore their identities and feminist Jewish journeys within a Jewish context.
JLC- Jewish Leadership Council. A select group of students representing every niche on campus come together to discuss issues facing our community. They act as our student pulse on what is happening on campus, Jewishly.
JRP- Jewish Renaissance Project. This group provides intellectual thought and discussion on modern day matters and Judaism.
J Street U- Advocates a just, two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict with democracy and security for both states.
JSAC- Jewish Student Action Committee. Create and run Tzedek projects on campus including food drives, fundraisers and more!
JSU- Jewish Student Union. The largest social and cultural group on campus. Coordinates large-scale social events including semi-formals, concerts, Holocaust Vigil, Jewish bar nights, and Israel shuk. A great leadership and involvement opportunity on campus.
Kedma- Orthodox group that coordinates religious services, speakers and social events.
Koach- Conservative group that conducts religious services, speakers, and social events.
Kol Sasson- Co-ed Jewish a cappella group.
MASA- Masa is an organization run through the Jewish Agency that promotes and runs long-term and short-term programs in Israel. We have two student interns to help connect you to Israel through Masa.
Mezumenet- All female a cappella group.
Mitzpeh- Independent Jewish student newspaper.
Rak Shalom- Co-ed a cappella group.
Reform Jewish Community (RJC) – Holds services and events for the Reform Jews on campus. Working on expanding, so get involved!
Russian Jews- maintains the growth of a vibrant, dynamic, culturally-rich Russian community on campus.
SDT- Sigma Delta Tau. Jewish Sorority on campus. National Greek affiliate.
SHAZAM- SHAZAM- Shalom Zionists at Maryland. An Israel advocacy group on campus that works to bring a positive image of Israel to the general student body through both political and social programing.
TerPAC- Terrapin Israel Public Affairs Committee. Cultural Israel group that seeks to bring Israel-related social events to campus such as concerts, art exhibits, speakers and more.
The Weekday Players- Theater and improv group on campus. Aims to extend the opportunities of theater to all members of the campus community.
TFI- Terps For Israel. TSI is a bi-partisan political group that seeks to educate current and future campus leaders on Israel and Israel advocacy.
Tzedek Fellows- A public service and social justice initiative devoted to transforming the culture of our community through service on and around campus.
