Alternative Breaks 2012

SEE THE WORLD. MAKE AN IMPACT.

Maryland Hillel’s Repair the World Alternative Breaks.

Winter and Spring experiences available!

Service is a fundamental value in Judaism. Join us as we engage in active service, interact with Jewish communities and learn about social issues and self. Through our extensive Alternative Break program, students have the opportunity to explore this principle.  Hillel and Repair the World offer students the opportunity to immerse themselves in domestic and global communities in order to learn about and actively combat social justice issues.  Alternative Breaks inspire students to understand their role in the world and their ability to make change.

While on an Alternative Break, you will work in a team and will learn about a particular issue and engage in short-term service projects with community agencies.  Through direct service, speakers and community inetraction, students will learn about a social issue that they may have had little to no contact with.

For more information, please contact Shikma Gurvitz at sgurvitz@marylandhillel.org

Alternative breaks will challenge you to think critically about the relationship between social justice and Judaism and about your personal obligation to others and ability to make change in the world.  Please click below to learn more about each experience.
